More than a memorial
In September 2016, the typhoon “CATFISH” attacked Sucun Village causing a major geological disasters of landslides. Many farmers houses collapsed and 28 people killed. In order to relieve the pain from the disaster and revive the village, when the opportunity of rural revitalization and building historical cultural village came Sucun people committed to follow and develop the economy further.  They take the design as the guide and repair as the goal. So, we studied the character of the natural landform and local history context and combined material and intangible heritages to our design.  According to the site conditions, Memorial Forest, Colourful Farmland, Four Season Fruit and Vegetable Garden and Hiking Camper are designed to create a multifunctional geological hazard park. This is a park functioning in commemorating, science popularising, education, leisure activities, etc.
The Sucun Relic Park has become part of the landscape, interpreting the concept of harmony between man and nature.
Walking in the Sucun Geological Hazard Park, looking back at history, you may  feel heavy and sad. but from the scenes, you can also see  production, life and ecology are well developed everywhere. That will surely bring back the hope of beautiful life.
